This bronze cast sculpture titled L' Amour au Papillon measures 19 inches high by 9 inches wide by 9 inches deep. L'Amour au Papillon is signed and dated 1864 on the back at the base. The artist Joseph Charles de Blezer was born in Ghent, Belgium. He attended the esteemed Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, France, studying under the renowned sculptor Jean Baptiste Clesinger. Important gilt cast brass, coin silver, and cut glass platform ink well made by Jabez Gorham & Son of Providence, Rhode Island. Stamped J G & Son 109. Jabez Gorham was the founder of the Gorham Silver Company. This mark was used in 1841, when his son John joined the firm, until 1850. The inkwell features a silver full body stag atop the lid. The footed stand features gold plated scrollwork inset with 4 silver repousse panels depicting ducks, partridges, hares, and deer. Inkwell measures 6 and one half inches high by 3 and one half inches in diameter. Stand measures 12 inches square by 2 inches high.
