Period antique French fireplace fire back cast iron 1667. This very heavy antique castiron fire back measures 25 and one half inches wide by 36 and one half inches tall. Very good as found condition. The date mark ANNO 1667 was cast in the bottom border. The scene is a classical image of a woman and children in an orchard. There is a goose in the foreground, and a pair of dolphins form the crest. Our consignor had contacted Sotheby's to see if they would be interested in selling it for her. They responded that it was a lovely piece but would sell for under their $6000.00 minimum. We have attached a copy of their letter for review. Shipping extra.
