Oil on canvas of a Screaming Hakw by artist Richard Montross. This oil on canvas painting of a Screaming Hawk on measures 32 inches by 42 inches. Richard Montross was born in 1939. Studied art at Columbia University, Art Students League, Lyme School of Art,Edinburgh University,and the Florida State University. The Birds of Prey Painting series (which this is one of) have only been exhibited once in the past 45 years. This is the first time and place these paintings have been made available for purchase. When they were first exhibited they were only available for viewing not for sale. Richard Montross lives in CT. A fascinating book has been published about Jon Schueler and his work titled "The Sound of Sleat", edited by Magda Salvesen and Diane Cusineau, published by Picador, New York. Schueler was taught by Clyfford Still and Willem de Kooning, among others. Please see Who Was Who in American Art, page 2941, for an extensive biography of the artist. Schueler exhibited at major galleries, associated with the influential New York dealers and collectors of the day, and was an important part of the Abstract Expressionist movement that evolved in New York in the 1950s through the 1960s.
