Salvador Dali Divine Comedy Le Supplice Des Hypocrites limited edition of 150 bois block cut signed by Salvador Dali published by the Collector's Guild Ltd and certified by teh Socie'te' de Ve'rification de la Nouvell Gravure Internationale of New York and Paris. This artwork is on BFK Rives paper and is hand signed by Dali in the lower right quadrant. It is also number130 from the edition of 150 in the lower left quadrant. The entire tirage outstanding for the Divine Comedy is 8534 sets per the Field and Michler/Lopsinger Catalog Raisonnes. This specific edition of 150 is from the edition in which contracts were made with Salvador Dali who agreed to hand sign them in the 1960's. The exact amount of hand signed divine comedy prints is unknown. However, this edition of 150 is verifiable and cataloged by Field and Michler and Lopsinger. Dali signed these rare hand signed prints in three colored crayons: Blue for Heaven, Purple for Purgatory, and Red for Hell. Excellent untouched condition in its original frame. Number 130/150. Original advetising poster for La Menthe Pastille, a French peppermint liqueur first distilled by Angers pharmicist Emile Giffard in 1885. The poster commemorates the1899 Hague Tribunal (Tribunal de la Haye). The frame measures 52 inches high by 8 feet long. Pair of drypoint etchings of dancers by Elyse Lord. Each of the three matching frames measures 18 by 12 and one half inches. The prints measure 6 by 10 inches. Very good original condition. One is numbered 9/50 and the other one is 10/50. Signed bottom right. Elyse Ashe Lord, British, 1900-1971. One of England's greatest graphic artists specializing in the delicate art of drypoint etching, Elyse Ashe Lord was elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1922 and was also a member of the Society of Graver-Printers in Colour. She favored etching exotic and Far Eastern figure subjects, treating them in delicate and imaginative colors. Lord actively exhibited from 1915 through 1939 in London with the famed Lefevre Gallery, who with London dealer Alexander Reid published her work. Her art was also shown at the Royal Academy of Arts, the Royal institute, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Walker Art Gallery of Liverpool, the Fine Art Society and The Paris Salon, where she received the silver medal for color prints. In addition, her work was published in Masters of the Colour Print, Volume 1, 1927, with an introduction by Malcolm C. Salaman. Modern art print by American artist "George Giusti" AGI, ADC, NDAD Born: Milan 10 October 1908. George Giusti of Italian and Swiss parentage, was trained at the Reale Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. He worked as a designer in Lugano from 1928 to 1930 and in Zurich from 1931 to 1937, then went to the United States and for about a year was employed in government offices in Washington,D.C. Having moved to New York in 1939, he started a freelance practice and designed posters and various forms of publicity material for the US Department of Agriculture, the US Army Air Corps and joined the Famous Artists Schools, Westport, Conn.,in 1959, and now acts as editorial and advertising designer and consultant for industrial concerns and publications. His work was shown at the AGI exhibitions as well as in New York, San Francisco, Rochester, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and under the auspices of the State Department, in South America, Europe and Japan. Between the years 1945 and 1959 he won ten gold and silver medals and thirty other awards, and in 1958 was elected Art Director of the Year and awarded the Golden T-Square Shipping extra. He executed a fresco for the American Airlines terminal at Idlewild (now Kennedy) Airport in New York in 1959.
