Modern Art lithograph by American artist George Giusti AGI, ADC, NDAD Born: Milan 10 October 1908. George Giusti of Italian and Swiss parentage, was trained at the Reale Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan. He worked as a designer in Lugano from 1928 to 1930 and in Zurich from 1931 to 1937, then went to the United States and for about a year was employed in government offices in Washington,D.C. Having moved to New York in 1939, he started a freelance practice and designed posters and various forms of publicity material for the US Department of Agriculture, the US Army Air Corps and joined the Famous Artists Schools, Westport, Conn.,in 1959, and now acts as editorial and advertising designer and consultant for industrial concerns and publications. His work was shown at the AGI exhibitions as well as in New York, San Francisco, Rochester, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and under the auspices of the State Department, in South America, Europe and Japan. Between the years 1945 and 1959 he won ten gold and silver medals and thirty other awards, and in 1958 was elected Art Director of the Year and awarded the Golden T-Square. Set of 18th c. colored engravings of the 9 muses, new frames. Each engraving measures 6 and one half inches by 9 and one half inches. The frames each measure 21 and one quarter by 27 and one quarter inches.(The Greek goddesses who presided over the arts and sciences. They were believed to inspire all artists, especially poets, philosophers, and musicians. The Muses were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory. The number of Muses varies over time; initially there was but one, and later there is mention of three: Melete, Mneme, and Aoede (the Elder Muses). They were nymphs in Pieria, western Thrace, and their cult was brought to Helicon in Boeotia by the Aloadae. Usually there is mention of nine muses: Calliope, Clio, Erato, Euterpe, Melpomene, Polyhymnia, Terpsichore, Thalia, and Urania, the Younger Muses.) Modern Art artist, painter Caribe Heitor Julio Paride Bernabo..Caribe is a pseudonym of Hector Bernabo. Born in Lanus, Argentina in 1911, died in 1998. See "New Brazil Art" by Pietro Maria Bardi, Praeger Publishers c1970, page 152: "In his work he reproduces the folklore of Bahia which is his permanent theme." He executed a fresco for the American Airlines terminal at Idlewild (now Kennedy) Airport in New York in 1959. This limited edition print of cavalheros herding cattle measures 12 inches by 15 and one half inches. The original frame measures 21 inches by 25 inches. The image itself, measures 19 and one half inches tall and is 15 inches wide.Manuel Robbe (1872-1936) (Born in Paris on December 16, 1872, he was descended from a northern French family from the town of Berthune. He studied painting and etching, and soon became an accomplished engraver, specializing in the medium of aquatint. He exhibited regularly at the Salons of the Societe des Artistes Fransais. Edmond Sagot, one of the most significant publishers of prints at the turn of the 20th century, was a great admirer of Manuel Robbe, and regularly published color prints by him.)
