Vintage car mascot, This Silvered bronze Ballot Trumpeter by Emile Edmond Peynot card mascot c1922 is in excellent condition. "Car Mascots" were used as hood ornaments and were designed by famous artist. This area of automobile memorabilia is highly prized by collectors. This "Ballot Trumpeter" by "Emile Edmond Peynot" measures six inches high and 8 and one half inches with its stand. See Motoring Mascots of the World page 102 #380 for a similar example. Bronze figure of Eugene O'Neill as a child. We are honored to have been chosen by Mr Legassie to sell this bronze in a limited edition. The figure measures 12 inches high by 16 inches long by 8 inches wide. The entire sculpture measures 18.5 inches high by 18.5 inches long by 11 inches wide, including the mahogany base. Artist's Biography: Norman Legassie began his sculpture career at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Connecticut, and was awarded scholarships for study for three consecutive years. He was a faculty member there from 1983 to 1988, teaching portrait and figure sculpture.
This sculptor's principle works include the portrait bust of Senator Thomas Dodd, which stands in the entry of the Thomas J. Dodd Archives & Research Center of Judaic Studies and Oral History, at the University of Connecticut at Storrs. Mr. Legassie's seven-foot bronze figure of an American construction worker, completed in 1993, is a memorial to the victims of the 1987 L'Ambiance Plaza building collapse in Bridgeport, Connecticut. In addition, his portrait bust of George W. Crawford, 33rd Sovereign Grand Commander, is on view at the Prince Hall Freemasonry, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Other principle works include a larger version of this bronze figure of the American playwright Eugene O'Neill as a child, located at City Pier, New London, CT, with smaller versions installed at the Beinecke Library, Yale University, and in Shelykovo, Soviet Union, at the country estate of the 19th-century Russian dramatist, Alexander Ostrovsky. Mr. Legassie's portrait bust of Susanne K. Langer, American philosopher and author, can be found at the Charles E. Shain Library, Connecticut College, New London, CT, while other portraits and sculptures are in public, private, and corporate collections.

"I am of the school of stone carvers who prefers to start with a natural form like a boulder or a cut block which has been split or otherwise altered. The object now represents the beginning of a conversation. I work directly on the stone and only occasionally draw on its surface or sketch on paper.
Besides the over all shape, I consider the grain and markings which when combined with my personal imagery, form an organic, bio-morphic image. These are not literal images rather they are meant to be multiple, elusive and mysterious, allowing the viewer to participate fully. The choice of titles is enigmatic and serves primarily as an identification of the piece.
Hopefully the sculpture will be enjoyed in natural light allowing for infinite subtle changes to occur throughout the day".

This modern sculpture entitled "The Sentry" was created by "Brian McCarthy" of New London, CT. Brian is best known for "figural abstract" welded steel sculptures. He was born June 16, 1945 and began art school at age 6. He studied under Thomas Hughes Ingle (show at Whitney Museum in 1956) and was later influenced by Harris Rodvogin. He formalized his art education at Connecticut College in New London from 1969 to 1973. Presently his work is in private collections in South Hampton NY, Connecticut College, German Naval Headquarters in Eichenforde Germany, and several other American and European collections. All works are meant to be displayed outdoors. Three large pieces are on display in the Hollycroft "Sculpture Mile" show in Madison, CT. These shows are put on by Bill Bendig, director and former editor of Art Gallery Magazine. This Modern Sculpture measures 68 inches high by 13 inches wide by 1 inch thick with a base that is 17 by 28 inches. Shipping extra. Oded Halahmy Judaica Bronze Cast "Forthright" Sculpture, Bronze Cast Sculptures, This "Oded Halahmy Forthright Bronze Cast Sculpture" measures 8 and one half inches high by 8 and one half inches wide and is 4 inches deep. Oded Halahmy began painting and sculpting at age 13 in Iraq, where he was born. His family settled in Israel in 1951 where he continued his craft.
