David Kintzler Contemporary marble Sculpture. "Sculptor David Kintzler" This marble sculpture crafted by David Kintzler, 1981, measures 6 inches high overall, 7 inches deep and 7 inches wide. David Kintzler, sculptor, born 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio. Education: B.F.A. Sculpture, Kent State University. M.A. Painting, Kent State University. M.F.A. Sculpture, Syracuse University. Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Skowhegan, ME. Apprentice Stone Carver, Johnston Monument Works, Newburgh, NY. Taught sculpture at Syracuse University, Kansas City Art Institute, Housatonic Community College, Bpt. CT (Professor Emeritus). Commissions: Igor Sikorsky Life size Bronze Portrait, in Sikorsky Plant's Main Lobby. Benny Goodman, Eubie Blake, Dizzy Gillespi. Works in numerous private collections. Statement by David Kintzler, Sculptor
"I am of the school of stone carvers who prefers to start with a natural form like a boulder or a cut block which has been split or otherwise altered. The object now represents the beginning of a conversation. I work directly on the stone and only occasionally draw on its surface or sketch on paper.
Besides the over all shape, I consider the grain and markings which when combined with my personal imagery, form an organic, bio-morphic image. These are not literal images rather they are meant to be multiple, elusive and mysterious, allowing the viewer to participate fully. The choice of titles is enigmatic and serves primarily as an identification of the piece.
Hopefully the sculpture will be enjoyed in natural light allowing for infinite subtle changes to occur throughout the day".

The Bathers bronze sculpture by Chester CT sculptor Mrs. Knollenberg (her late husband was the historian Bernard Knollenberg) studied first in New York, and in 1933 she won a Guggenheim Fellowship to study in Paris. September 6th 1981 Article in the New York Times about the show at The Wall Focus Gallery In Chester CT where this sculpture was purchased. It was one of seventeen pieces exhibited. Measures 14 inches high, signed lower right. NY Times Article"Looking at work like this makes one wonder. Although Mary Tarleton Knollenberg has shown her sculpture at a number of museums and galleries around Connecticut, including such institutions as the Yale University Art Gallery and the Lyman Allyn Museum in New London, she seems to have avoided or, perhaps, been avoided by the New York art world. Her work, though unconventional, is of real quality and deserves to be better known." Born 1904 Died 1992. Cast by the Modern Art Fndy NY
