Rare pre American revolution era receipt for services from Newport Rhode Island September 24 1745 by Francis Brinley the second. Measures 5 and one half inches by three and one quarter inches.The Brinley Family were well ensconced among the social and political elite of colonial New England. Connected by marriage to other elite families in Rhode Island and Massachusetts the Auchmutys, Craddocks, and Tyngs among them the Brinleys were refined, highly educated, public spirited, and most often business-minded. This antique document is a report from the deputy jailor of Middletown, CT concerning "licenses" for the month of January, 1883. The piece is hand written on Jail Office stationery. It is in excellent condition. The recipients have done some calculations in pencil on the margins. This interesting piece of Americana measures 11x13.
